oh my! The School of Arts and Communication of The University of Wisconsin - La
Crosse has its first annual Creative Imperatives event beginning on Sun., April

the greater La Crosse and university communities. Students and professionals
collaborate together to promote scholarly and creative works.
The SAC opens its doors to various innovative artists on the
local, regional and national level. Workshops and presentations will be located
on the UW-L campus. Julia Johnson, the Director of the School of Arts and
Communication, states, “There is important and interesting work being done by
our faculty and students in the School of Arts and Communication.” She hopes
that this work is showcased to continuously encourage the community to gather
together to appreciate creative and scholarly works.
CI promotes performers with a wide variety of expertise in areas
of photography, public speaking, entrepreneurship, and various musical talents.
Workshops offer demonstrations and the opportunity to build skills in fields
such as blacksmithing, ceramics, oil painting, and improvisations exercises.
Keynote speakers, lectures, debates, and film screenings will also be offered
for more of a hands-off experience of the arts.
“I hope that Creative
Imperatives becomes annual highlight for the university and community. The
ultimate goal is for the event is for Creative Imperatives to be completely
student facilitated,” says Johnson.
